Bare Grill

These are one of those places which you have to make an effort to go to. It's about a 40min bus ride from the CBD, but I had some time to spare that day so decided to make my way down to this side of Sydney.

Going into the cafe/burger place, it was really nice and airy, with some sea views if you sat on the the bench. There was a sign saying they cook everything to order, so it did take around 15mins to get my burger, even though it as 2pm, so a bit after lunch time.

Aussie Outback: beef patty, bacon, american cheddar, beetroot, caramelised onion, iceberg lettuce, tomato, fried egg, bare sauce-$16+chips and drink $5

medium-pink inside

I actually just paid $10 using the voucher from Ompty. Since I had a bus to catch/needed to go to uni, I demolished the burger in 15min, and had about 1/3 of the chips, but had the takeaway the rest. Didn't even touch my drink (ended up just getting water). I initially picked up the burger with my hands, and managed to take a bite from the bottom half of the burger, with heaps of sauce and melted cheese dripping down onto my hands, so ended up using knives and fork. I tried to eat it the normal way, but the burger was deceivingly high...The meat wasn't too salty which helped let the flavours of the sauce and bacon come through. The bare sauce is a kind of mayo, with some mustard and other stuff. Pretty good sauce, and not too overpowering even though it was dripping a bit. The bacon wasn't crispy but still flavourful. Loved how this burger had veggies inside. I actually hate beetroot, but the sweetness from it in this burger made me appreciate it, and good freshness from the other veggies. Bun was soft and not overly sweet like other brioche bun, and loved how they had the name stamped on it (saw other buns in plastic bags and they were all name-pressed before from their supplier).

Chips were really good as well! Good crunch and heaps of potato inside, with a kind of chicken seasoning, but not chicken salt. An hour later they didn't go soggy, and were still warm with a slight crunch. Would of had more if I had more time to spare and slowly eat the chips rather than rushing for the bus. Really want to try the other burgers on their menu :)
