The Local Trade

Yay for another cafe in the hills area. Holidays were made for cafe hopping (:

They have a playground for kids-how cute

menu

mocha and capp-$3.70

A tad bit pricier than the average $3.50, it was also a tiny bit hotter than my coffee drinking temp, and also a bit not as strong. There also wasn't enough chocolate in the mocha, more towards the coffee side.

The food took around 20min to come, a little bit longer than we expected since there weren't many people in the cafe, and the coffee art was disappearing...but that didn't matter since we were pleasantly surprised when the food come out.

Smoked salmon, poached eggs, spinach, salsa verde, hollandaise, sourdough toast-$19

Such a generous serving for this price! Normally it's around $16ish, but there's a lot more components here, but everything still worked. Chose smoked salmon rather than bacon, which wasn;t overly salty/smoked. Eggs perfectly poached, and good hollandaise sauce, which wasn't as seasoned as other ones I've had, but helps bring out the flavour form the salsa verde. Heaps of spinach under this stack. Toast were a tad bit hard to cut, but it was toasted well.

Grilled chicken and sumac salad: tomato, charred corn, cos lettuce, feta, herbs, house dressing-$17

When this salad came, we were super impressed with the portion size. Normally for this price you get  around 2/3 of this. So many toppings in this but it all worked well. Lovely grilled chicken, love the spices in it, and charred (not burnt) corn. Heaps of cherry tomatoes in this and good creaminess from the feta. It was recommended by the waiter, and I'll also recommend it. Service was friendly and efficient (:
