i think i will love every 2nd tuesday. ending at 12 since physiology 3 hour labs are every 2nd week (: but on the alternate weeks...two 3 hour labs ):

the lecturer said you'd have to rote learn anatomy. i think it's true as well, but i've always wanted to learn every single bone in the body, and all those muscles, nerves etc of the whole body for "general knowledge". it seems interesting. finally had the chance to look at dead bodies today! you really have to admire the donors who are so willing to give up their bodies for us to look at...but i was quite excited (: should totally start revising now. so many parts to remember even in the first week.

i hate the med building. it's even further up than biomed. what's worse is that they're doing construction, so you can't access the building from inside the uni, you have to walk outside the uni grounds to the back entrance. that being said, the med building is quite nice inside. first time going in it-apparently undergrads for both med and non-med can only go into the ground and 1st floor. other levels is for post grad and staff or something, and there's about 5 other levels...the building isn't small either, but i do hope they finish the construction quickly since i don't want to walk around the whole building to go inside it. i'm sure there are other ways to get inside the building through adjacent buildings, but i don't want to risk being late to a lab....

bought new sunnies today-my first pair of brown shades. before the end of my degree, i intend to get every single "luxury" brand of sunnies they have available (if they fit my small face), since it's technically free (: the one i got today is branded (actually, everything there is branded...), it wasn't one of those "higher" ones but it was cheap and meant this year i could get 2 pairs without paying (: and i needed them since they're not polarised, which is good for going on the bus and looking at your phone.

i knew it! the person who had my name didn't know me and vice versa. luckily someone tagged me in the photo...but then they just released the list online tonight...field trip to bondi junction! which i can actually get there faster in the morning compared to uni. hopefully we don't have to spend too long there since there's this place i want to eat near there. then again, if there isn't enough time to eat, well i guess i'm saving money, so it's a win-win situation.

i really hope people start to not turn up to their 9am lectures. traffic is horrible. it takes almost 45 min from martin place to uni. it's supposed to take less than 20min in good traffic, and 25min during school zones. and the buses were crowded as well even though the route doesn't go through central. i need to get to my labs on time, so i hope those eager first years will learn to skip their 9am lectures (oh wow, i kinda sound evil lol)

impulse bought another pair of sunnies. well not really, they were half priced burberry, and they were for my mum, but i tried them and they fit me. they were also polarised, so i think they were a good price. there's actually some really good deals, like 70% off some sunnies which actually weren't ugly. btw, i think prada's cases for sunnies are the best.

at this rate i can get two "cheap" pairs of sunnies or one expensive pair for free each year. the one i bought today didn't have the signature check pattern...it was a more conservative black frame. maybe next pair i get i should try something more trendy and not black like my last few pairs have been...next pair i shouldn't get polarised-they're good for driving, but you see rainbows when you look at your phone...i totally understand why people say glasses/sunnies are like shoes.

so much cleaning to do. somehow i haven't had time since exams ended. i still haven't filed my stuff since exams...

Rayban Adventures #3 and Marayong

finally got my sunnies. didn't bother to clean it with stuff, only polished it. need to adjust them again...i'm glad i got practical sunnies. can actually tell the difference when driving with polarised lenses.

today the optom brought in some south african pastries since her husband is south african. apparently in dural there is this south african patisserie, and to her husband's standard, they aren't bad. don't know what they're called but they were so good! they were kind of gooey in the middle, slightly hard on the outside, twisted and long, but they were so sweet! even with my high sweet tolerance, i thought it was sweet. still ate two though-they were really nice. first time having south african pastries. ahh, just found the name-koeksisters

dad also ordered new glasses. his ones were $1049, but after some discounts and health fund, he still had to pay over $300, it's not that bad compared to the rrp...like it's high quality stuff, branded frame etc. personally, i think branded frames are better than cheap frames. they look better as well.

went to marrying today. never actually hard of it, nor knew that they had a station. driving there, we passed kellyville/parklea area. wow, so many houses being built. there was this one massive patch of land near parklea where the houses/townhouses/duplexes etc look EXACTLY THE SAME. they were all white with some black and grey. alllll the same. heaps more land there with new houses built so close to each other. probably max 3 metres apart. i bet you can talk to the other person in the house next to you since the houses are being built so close together, guess they're trying to save land space whilst maximising house space. gg, those new houses/upcoming houses are going to have soooo much traffic in the future....

went to my bible study leader's house. their house is quite small, but they have one small room filled with his dvd collection. definitely over 100 dvdd, and he said he still had some in the living room, at his parents' house and at school (he works at a school). crazy, iterally every box set. he even has two copies of some boxed sets. all the seasons of lost and heroes (i used to love those shows). disney, horrors, old and new. he can literally start his own hiring business...

we had pizza hut delivery, and we got nice pizza! the crust was white not brown, and soft not chewy. we got spinach and feta (my fav), bacon cheeseburger and chicken deluxe. why did i never order those when i have pizza? then again, we haven't bought fast food pizza in so long. only gourmet or frozen. ate so much junk food and just watched a movie. they're quite a funny couple-the guy is anglo  and the wife asian

my brother's youth group hired a jumping castle to play at church yday night, and it was a themed "castle" jumping castle with stuff inside to play...

Rayban Adventures #2

it wasn't as chaotic as last week but i still don't have my sunnies. so another person cleaned them this time, first with this oil/lubricant which was fine, but then with this methanol solution and gg, the gloss finished faded. with pure eucalyptus oil, it was fine. that tree oil from last week apparently has 80% ethanol, so alcohol obviously has a reaction to that gloss finish. so i have to wait another week...

made chia pudding yday. i think it's super healthy-chia seeds and almond milk. it doesn't have any sugar naturally, but i added a teaspoon of manuka honey and a tiny bit of vanilla essence. people said to add 2 tablespoons of honey...my 1tsp wasn't really enough...so i just got some mango which has heaps of natural sugar, a super healthy brekkie (: i was hoping it would have a thicker consistency...maybe i used add some gelatine to it so it can be like mango pudding..

i need a smaller jar...

results were just as expected, horrible. at least i passed everything...my two bet subjects from first sen were my 2 worst this sen. and they were very, very bad...they didn't scale chem as much as i hoped... ): whilst in phys, so much scaling considering i only did 20% of the paper and i guessed the rest.

people are right. mortal instruments movie was super bad. hardly stuck with the book, and the main character isn't as "hot" as the book describes, he's actually quite ugly. i would say hunger games movie kept with the book about 95% similarity, and they omitted things which weren't important, but mortal instruments is probs less than 20%.

ahh, my head hurts from planning...people are all so busy these days ):

Ray Ban Adventures

so yday i put the sunnies on hold, and then decided to buy the ray bans today. they have this eucalyptus oil which them clean the sticky stuff from the price labels, but they ran out so they used tree oil. once the person used tree oil, it's supposed to polish it, but instead, it rubbed off the gloss finish on the frame. as i said before, the gloss is $40 more than the matte, but it looks heaps better imo. i already payed for it, and the frame kind of brook i guess, she checked that towers had one and we were headed there anyway and then she said they could do an IBT (internal branch transfer).

off to towers, and their store is so much bigger. sunnies are kept in boxes bundled together, instead of separately in trays. so much more staff as well, was supposed to see them tar, but ended up seeing them today =/ the computer said it had one, but they couldn't find it. then they said to go sunglasses hut and they could ibt to the towers store. found the sunnies at sunglasses hut (it also changed location) and turns out someone rang in earlier to hold that exact pair of sunnies and they would come in to pick it up later. then they told me to go myer and they could also do an ibt. the person there said they did have one earlier, but they just sold it! so sad, back to square one. the original person ended up doing an ibt with other stores far away (heaps of stores also sold out). the sad thing is that i'd have to wait a week for something i've already paid for ): and the ones i put on hold yday were new. like i took them out of their case and no one else touched/tried them on. but if i'm getting a pair from the other side of sydney, then it's not going to be new, new (if that makes sense).

now i really want those ray bans over burberry. the burberry ones aren't polarised, and i'll probs used them everyday and then it'll be more prone to wear and tear of that special cloth on the frame. ray bans much more practical with the polarised lenses and so much demand for it. usually i try to not get the same thing that other people get, but who knew this particular pair was so popular!? exact tint, size, frame, finish. the more i keep typing this post, the more i really want those sunnies.

i don't know how i should feel. if i was a regular customer, i would be pissed off.

also did some christmas shopping. tried on over ten hand creams. surprisingly mixing up the smells weren't too bad. i love complimentary gift wrapping. however, since it's xmas, they don't have those deals where you spend a minimum and get a free product. and i bought i milk frothed! from aldi, haha. it has a two year warranty, but i'm expecting it to not work properly after a year. they re-opened build-a-bear at towers! maybe i can fulfil my childhood dream. i just need to go disneyworld first.

wow, i really hate australia transport (this doesn't have anything to do with today). i'm just comparing it to other countries, and sydney is just so damn expensive and crap.

so much food at church's monthly dinner. actually, there were a lot of potatoes, at least 6 massive trays/dishes people made. there was actually rice left over, usually there isn't enough rice to go around. didn't take any rice home though unlike some other people haha.

didn't get any supps. i either failed or just passed. i hope it's the latter...i know my wam this sem is going to be a depressingly low pass...sometimes you just have this feeling...

busy week this week.

Coco Cubano and The Chocolate Room

today was such a good day.

mum got new glasses, and the manager chose branded frames, and all these expensive lenses. there are so many lenses, but she picked the best (and most expensive ones). rrp, the multifocal glasses cost $889, but she gave a good discount, and after claiming the health fund, there was still a largish gap (compared to going to Asian optometrists with small stores where they have cheaper frames/lenses and not as good quality but no gap) to pay. but still, the gap was less than the actual frames, and the glasses looked so much better than her old ones (which were so, so ugly).

decided to look for new sunnies today. agh, i don't know what to choose! should i choose the cheaper ray ban with polarised lenses, or should i go with the more fashionable (but more expensive) burberry sunnies? the problem is that i have a small face, so the extravagant sunnies don't fit me ): and tbh, big sunnies on small faces don't look good. the shine finish cost $40 more than the matte finish for the ray bans. they're actually not cheap either, but $100 cheaper than the burberry. i love the burberry! except they have a super thin frame with a "cloth" material around it with their signature pattern. they look a bit better on me, but they're not polarised, and i wouldn't go to the beach with them, since it'd get damaged more easily. the cloth thing on the side damages easily...so technically the ray bans are more practical for chucking around (i.e. i won't be super sad if sand touches it etc..). put both on hold, i'll think about it again tmr...

finally got my name badge today!

yay, saw tess today (: tonight was so fun, just chatting (: so glad i made the trek to parra. it took me about 15mins to get into a carpark, since i wanted to find the cinema one, but i kept missing the hidden entrance street from this other street. and thanks guys for walking to my car. defs would have gotten lost. and then when i came out, the car in front of me turned right, but i turned left since it said church st, and i know i needed to get onto, but once i turned, i knew i was on the other end of church st, so did a massive loop to u-turn and go back to the correct direction on church st. also, there was rbt on the other side of the road on windsor rd, outside baulko library, and then those undercover police cars catching speeding cars...

first time going to Coco Cubano, even though unsw has one. the logo reminds me of Thomas Sabo
lemon lime mint iced tea, banana mango iced granita large-$7, citrus berry iced granita, and an iced bounty couverture choc

Dandelion and i had the banana mango. i thought it would be really sweet, but i was surprised since it was a tad bland, probs because they needed to use heaps of ice. tried a bit of Happy Apple's citrus berry. again, wasn't sweet, but a really interesting combo of flavours. Better's bounty did taste like the chocolate, but obviously a much icier version.

Calamari with chilli salt and roasted garlic sauce-$12.90

not chilli at all. quite nice, and i loved the garlic sauce.

mini quesadillas-$11.90, garlic mushrooms-$9.90

the quesadillas were quite delicious, and not spicy. they used large mushrooms instead of button mushrooms like Encasa. definitely not as garlicky as Encasa, and was a bit disappointed, but then again, Encasa is known to produce top notch Spanish food (in sydney) for a decent price. i guess these ones today felt healthier without so much butter/garlic.

beef nachos-$15.90, oven baked eggs-$13.90

nachos were alright. felt like some breakfast food so got some baked eggs. their bread isn't bad, it's just that their baked eggs were smaller. then again, tapas are smaller, and their prices for their baked eggs are cheaper than other places. the chorizo here tasted fattier, and didn't have enough spice, but it was pretty nice overall. like their smashed avo is about $11, whilst the grounds is around $17.

group w/ food! interesting decor around the cafe.

we were going to go san churros for dessert, but i'm so glad we didn't. crossed the road to go to The Chocolate Cafe. always walk past the one in the city, but it always seems empty-ish. the parra one was pretty packed when we went (then again, it's not as big). this place was surprisingly really good, good selection of desserts and not as expensive as other chocolate places!

thanks again Better for the shout (:

it looks camouflaged

warm dark choc pudding w/ cream-$6.50

so nice and warm. even though it was dark choc, it was quite rich (but not overly sweet), so this was good to share. didn't fully ooze out, but the presentation of the fudgy chocolatey stuff made it look so good, and it was yum

tiramisu icecream-$6

we were all mind blown by this dish, but i think Dandelion was the most in awe, haha. we thought it was tiramisu with ice cream, since on the picture, it had a slice of tiramisu. then we thought it wasn't really worth it having another piece of cake which wasn't that big in terms of serving size. then when the waiter came over, he explained it was tiramisu ice cream shaped in a slice of a cake! and this was soo good. you have the novelty of it and the taste (: not sure if gelatissimo tiramisu is better or this.

waffle wonder-$12.50

i wanted some dessert waffles, since the waffles i had w/ ice cream the other day were those home-machine types, not the more cafe style types. these waffles weren't that big (considering the price is was ok), but it was beautifully presented with vanilla ice cream sandwiched between the waffles. well personally, i've never had waffles stacked like this before. the waffles were chewier than other waffles and was sweeter than i would've liked. i think the waffle shouldn't be as sweet, so you can focus on the chocolate flavour (since we are in the chocolate room). this choc sauce was a bit sweeter than that choc sauce with the pudding. the vanilla ice cream was by far the sweetest thing here. the chocolate is rich, but not sugar-sweet. the vanilla ice cream was just caster and icing sugar like sweet.

i definitely have a big sweet tolerance. tonight's dessert were sweet, but i've had even sweeter things before...sorry for taking pictures of photos of food together. it saves space on my phone, so instead of taking 3 individual photos, i just take one photo of all 3 foods. once i post the photos, i usually delete the individual ones off my phone. yay for food and friends (:
