Ed Sheeran Divide

Attended my third concert with last minute tickets, literally got them 2 hours before I left the house. When a friend is on placement and she knows you wouldn't really go to these unless it's last minute/slightly cheaper. They were general admission rear standing, so it's not as crazy as front standing/moshpit, but standing does mean standing for at least 3 hours. If I could choose, I wouldn't do standing again since it does get tiring, and subtly try to push to the front. Ended up being 5 rows from the front of the rear standing. You could still see him a bit bigger than if you were seated high up or far back, but so many tall people in front of me, so you had to shift around to sort of look through the gaps of all the tall people. It was super crowded since there were like 2 other concerts plus one sports game one, plus the 78 000 at ANZ stadium. Opening acts included Ryan McMullan and Missy Higgins (only recognised one of her songs, which was really old school)...

Divide

Simple stage set up, no stage transformations. Just used the 5 screens branching up with the lights around the speakers, and of course matched whatever he was singing in colour and timing, and the theme of the song.

Was here just over one year ago

tickets

The music wasn't really that loud, and personally I think his vocals live weren't as impressive as Adele or Taylor Swift. It's literally just him on stage with his guitar, no back up singers or dancers or costume changes. Whereas Adele had some backup singers, and some dancers, and Taylor Swift is super talented dancing while singing since you can easily loose your breath, and different outfit every few songs. Ed Sheeran has less people to pay for, and he did 3 stadium concerts in Sydney, so he would rake in more money compared to the other 2 artists I've seen.

I like the songs in Divide, because it seems like there are more ballads/more meaningful songs (amongst the heartbreak songs lol). Since it's acoustic, people weren't too crazy and not too many fan girls. I don't really get the whole loop sound system thing, since people screaming from the top half of the stadium is always a fractioned delayed, so I guess people thought he had a back up sound track. I think it's something to do with him singing and then the stuff needs to take time to be moved through all the wires into the bigger speaker near the top.

I sometimes wonder how parents can afford to take the whole family to see a concert. Like one ticket isn't cheap, for a family it'll be one half to almost your whole week's of income, unless you earn above the average salary. I didn't go to my first proper concert until I was 21 and even then it was a discounted ticket. Before that were all these free mini concerts/dance concerts.

around 7.30 not completely full yet

The A Team

I think the phone with lights is most impressive in ANZ Stadium because it's just so big and immense.

Dive

Galway Girl

Perfect

The main reason I wanted to see him was just to hear this song live. Let's be honest, most people fav song is Perfect from this album. I haven't been to a wedding reception before, but on my social media, I've seen at least 5 couples use that song as a first dance song. It is a pretty cute song.

Thinking Out Loud

I like the cute graphics

Shape of you

I like the trees/branches look sort of growing up the screen.

Exiting the concert was so bad, cause everything pretty much finished at the same time. Took like 15mins getting stuck in this bottle neck where people are trying to go in opposite directions. Managed to get a seat on the bus since feet were quite tired. I think I can walk for hours and hours, but standing for hours does get to me. It was still an enjoyable night hearing Ed Sheeran live.

ADELE Live 2017-Sydney

ADELE 💜

Adele was absolutely amazing! Definitely worth paying to watch her live. She's one of those artists who sound better live than on recording.

Set list:
  1. Hello (going to the concert because mainly of this song, jks, but it's my fav)
  2. Hometown Glory
  3. One and Only
  4. I'll Be Waiting
  5. Rumour Has It
  6. Water Under the Bridge
  7. I Miss You
  8. Skyfall (and this song because I am secretly a Bond fan)
  9. Don't You Remember
  10. Make you feel my love (Bob Dylan Cover)
  11. Send My Love (to Your New Lover)
  12. Sweetest Devotion
  13. Chasing Pavements
  14. Take It All
  15. Set Fire to the Rain (literally with fireworks, another fav)
Encore:
16. When We Were Young
17. Rolling in the Deep (and another fav)
18. Someone like you (another fav)

I love Adele because her vocals are so strong, filled with so many emotions, and she is just so REAL! It;s just pure Adele and her songs.  That voice was just amazing to hear (obviously words can't describe it lel), plus her jokes were to die for.

She's not the typical artist who skinny, long legged, dance+sing, amazing sets talented back up dancers plus a large band. Don't get me wrong, Tay Tay is super talented and was perfect with her singing and dancing which is hard to do live together, but Adele just shows that you don't have to be what social media defines as 'normal' to be successful.

She will talks to the whole 95440 people like they're her friends and doesn't care about appearance. Accidentally tripping, almost crying because someone needed medical help, restarting a song and spoiling that there were fireworks, messy hair don't care, sticking her microphone in her bra, telling some behind the scenes of her music videos, plus many other quotes from the note (which I'm sure the media have already covered) just shows her personality and feels like you know her without meeting her. Loved her unique 360deg stage, and I think she equally face each side lol.

(didn't buy a shirt because I don't think I'll wear it)

cutest confetti ft quote songs

For those who don't know, I'm actually that weird person who doesn't listen to music apart from radio music. The first concert I wanted to go to was Delta Goodrem but I was too young (and no money), so didn't go. My first concert was Taylor Swift 1989 World Tour, but that was super last minute thanks to a lovely friend who sold me a A reserve ticket 2 hours before the concert started for a super cheap price. So this is technically my first anticipated 'full price' concert (or my 2nd concert). From what I've heard, normal concert tickets are around $100 for B/C reserve. Adele is almost double every other single artist. C reserve at $160 compared to Tay Tay A reserve $150. C reserve you can still see Adele but when you zoom in to take a photo, she's not that clear vs A reserve can take a clear photo of Tay Tay. Tbh I'm there for her voice, and she can still here it from C reserve. Both were completely different, and amazing in their own ways. Just Adele is better live.

She had these balloon/ball things during Rumour Has It, but the wind kept blowing them left so it got congested on one side of the stadium, and from where we sat, only 3 balls went over us but I didn't manage to touch it...I did manage to catch some quotes confetti (but not coloured confetti). I liked her T-shirt gun, too bad I was too far away from a signed shirt. She even included $20 in it lol. She also gave a person in the very back row at the top a signed letter.

I guess it's not your typical type of concert with the mosh pits, which obviously you do not expect from Adele. More 'mature aged; people went, i.e. more grandparents, couples, adults, a lot less children/twelvies (probably unlike Bieber next week). It was a lot more calmer concert with everyone just really absorbing her voice and feels. Everyone sat down in the tiers, occasionally one/two stood up but luckily no one in front of me. If we sat on the ground, I think people would block your view even if distance wise it's closer, but I'm short which makes the tied seating better.

My friend managed to get tickets to the first night, but I'm glad she did a second show rather than people scalping tickets cause that's not fair. Also means 95000 don't miss out since both concerts were sold.

The train station was indeed packed, but we got there around 6.30pm, and seated around 7pm it was still pretty empty. Apparently at 7.30pm which was supposed to start on time, it was still 65% empty so she delayed so more people came before she started at 8:15pm. Leaving was surprisingly efficient, only 10min walk out then luckily my gate was near the side of the bus bays, and a lot of buses compared to Taylow Swift. They had free transport included in the ticket, so they really did want people to use it.

Thanks for coming to Aus!10 years later is better than never.

Post concert withdrawal symptoms. Currently listening to Adele on repeat.

Taylor Swift: 1989 World Tour

Finally attended my first (not free) concert last Saturday!

I actually don't have a favourite artist ever since Delta Goodrem, but kind of wanted to go to Taylor Swift. My friend's sister had a spare ticket, which I was going to buy, but the concert was the weekend before supps week, and didn't want to risk buying the ticket and not go if I needed to study.

So that morning I went to the city just for Zumbaron Day, and shopped around, then got back home. Friend called when the concert was supposed to start to say one of her sister's friends forgot  the concert was on even though she already paid. So then just they offered me a fairly discounted ticket, so left the house in about 5mins without even eating dinner...Luckily they have express buses to Homebush when they have events like this, and the last bus ensures you make it there before Tay Tay appears on stage (at 8.30)

first concert!

Ended up getting there at 7.30pm. Not bad for buses. Bought a bottle of water for $5...which is not worth but I was kinda hungry...so decided to get water....luckily I had a late lunch...

Vance Joy

Missed a few of the songs, but made it in time for about 3 songs, which are more well known. I think he performed for a bit over half an hour.

panorama shot

We had seated A reserve tickets on the side, but the sound and lighting blocked some part of the runway and crane when she walked out... It was still pretty close to the stage.

Taylor Swift was so amazing live! I know understand why people go to concerts (and also post concert depression). Loved her positive attitude, dances/facial expression, costumes, sets, and lights! She did have a few costume changes, but they were very quick. Almost all of them were sequin/sparkly, and she had a dress which lit up! The leather costumes were so cool as well. She makes me motivated to get fit to wear crop tops lol. Love her simplicity in just simple/effortless hair, less fuss about it. And her super high heeled shoes which were sparkly, and also glittery microphone. She was also lifted up onto a crane, and it spun around for some songs. She's so talented, playing piano, keyboard, guitar....

The coolest thing was these wrist bands we got. You pulled the tab to activate it, but it doesn't do anything until she appeared on stage. The coloured lights on the band were controlled by her tech crew, and it flashed depending on the beats in the music. So you just see the whole 76 000 stadium of people with colour coordinated lights. In wildest dreams it was blue, love story pink, bad blood red, shake it off multi coloured flashes. After the concert was over, it still worked by touching it, although you don't get red... Ended up singing for almost 2 hours (she appeared on stage at around 8.40pm). She's too cool to do an encore. Ended up buying her 1989 album (one year after it's released) the other day since it was on sale.  Loved Tay Tay for my first (not free) concert.

Photos! (It was really hard taking in focus pictures since you're trying to enjoy the moment, and the spot light on her made it hard to focus...)

Shake It Off with fireworks

stupid pom pom...

you can see that pole for lighting blocking that runway/turning crane stage...

end

Going out wasn't too bad, just a few traffic jams which is expected....got onto the bus after 20mins since had to slowly walk out of the stadium. Outside, you could hear stereo sonic going on next door. I think even when Taylor was changing and played some videos, you could hear this beat coming from there...

Ticket (:

My phone ran out of memory space, so didn't take vids for some songs since I think I deleted them to video a bit of the finale.

Optus RockCorps Concert 2014

my second free concert! survived my first moshpit! i have yet to have a favourite artist to be willing to attend a pay concert (there was a time when i wanted to go to delta's concert in primary. if there was a chance she started singing again, i would go)

even though this year's line up wasn't as spectacular as last yearn everything else was better. there was free rides, you could reserve your spot in the line, lockers to hire (which meant no bags to tug around and i could go in the moshpit without worrying about my stuff), location is easier to get to, and actually started not too late and finished almost on time. last year i lined up at 5, concert started at around 8. this year got there at about 4.30 with rides to occupy your time, and concert started at about 7.30, ending a bit past 11.

i think i was super lucky today. normally i cross the harbour bridge going back home. since there was the massive fire in Barangaroo, i caught the train over the bridge so i didn't have to get stuck in the 2+hours of peak hour traffic in the arvo if i ended my normal time...also, i could stay till the end of the concert since i have a 1pm start tomorrow (unlike last year where i had to miss the script since i had a 9am start).

you could still breath after the first artist. but once the djs, LAM, pumped the songs, people jumped/pushed you forward. the djs are pretty hot, and they were so good! actually, the best i've heard so far. super good mix of songs, and beats etc. a person tweeted that they wanted to have them at their 21st, well if i had the money, i would as well! after all those parties, cruises etc i've been to, these guys are the best i've heard so far! last years ones weren't good...'s after every artist, i kinda got pushed/squeezed a row forward, and made it to the front row half way through the night! (: never experienced so much sweat and physical contact from strangers before...

here are some snapshots
(sorry if they're out of focus-don't have time to focus them with people bumping/jumping into you....)
they opened most of the rides (:

only one section of sitting. i think the Big Top is slightly smaller than the Horden Pavilion

Samantha Jade!

i knew her, whilst other people didn't. she was always good looking on x-factor, but seeing her irl, she's hot! she's pretty good live as well and she's so cheery and happy.

Miguel-"mystery artist"

i only recognised one song since i don't really know him.

Rudimental

they sang quite a lot, like each vocalist did their own song. got to touch the guy, but he was so sweaty it felt awkward lol. they're pretty good with the crowd.

Empire of the Sun! i actually knew a few of the songs. they took a while to set up, with their own personal team checking the instruments etc. they are so good live! their costumes are amazing, as well as choreography, lighting, props and all those screens behind. the dancers had about 4 costume changes, and they just look spectacular! he came in through/out a trap door-so cool. he also threw 2 picks, and the drummer through a drum stick. got to touch him as well, but you could smell the vodka on him =/ at least he still sang well.

did you know, earlier in the day i volunteered for 4 hours, then in my optm tute the person made us stand for the whole hour and all i wanted to do was sit! then went to the concert and stood from 4.30 until 11pm. so technically, i've stood/jumped for at least 11 hours today. unfortunately, i didn't lose any weight ): lol

phone managed to last the whole day-from 7.30am to 12.30am. managed to take videos, photos, snapchats etc. just have to know how to preserve your battery life (:

nts: uni wifi is actually really fast at uploading blogger photos via my phone.
