Unbirthday Bakery Take 3

How can anyone say no to a complimentary cake tasting? First time they had something like this, and although I've already bought a cake before, with my memorable 21st birthday cake, I still wanted to try the mixed berry flavour. I've had the chocolate one before at another friend's 21st. Cake as the centrepiece to any dessert table or just sharing at any celebration is the best. Hence, I didn't hesitate to spend a few of my pays on one cake. Their team has expanded heaps since a year ago (and I guess that kind of meant prices have increased a bit again). This tasting was located at Crooked Tailor, a relatively new local bar.

so cuteee

Loved these petit cakes so you get a bit of everything. I've forgotten how good their cakes taste. Cake inside isn't too buttery or sweet, relatively fluffy and moist inside. The only problem with cupcakes is that you need buttercream to make it look pretty, and the icing ends up being at least half of the cupcake itself. So here as whole, it was overly sweet. It's different to when you have a cake and there is quite a lot of cake to balance out the layer of buttercream on the top and in the middle (or on the side). Generally if you have the middle piece (since you cut out these big cakes into squares rather than slices), you have the least amount of icing. I used to not really like buttercream because I found it too sweet with granulated sugar pieces, but this one is really smooth. The mixed berry flavour helped to make the cake not too sweet.

Also, to get the gold, they dilute gold powder into rosewater, so the pink coloured white chocolate pieces had a subtle rosewater flavour. Did not notice this before, but now I do.

I can keep looking at these cakes all day,
